Working together for biodiversity on the Ritten

In May 2026, the Holzner joined other members of the Ritten Tourism Association for a planting initiative in Oberinn. Under the guidance of the Ritten forestry station, the group planted young, resilient shrubs on a bare area near the RiArco archery course.

Why shrubs? Hedges add variety to the landscape and offer animals food, shelter and places to live. The new planting sits among the area’s dry stone walls: their gaps and the varying temperatures around them provide hiding places for insects, reptiles and other small animals.

The forestry station guided the work and supplied the plants. Together with everyone involved, we spent an afternoon doing something practical for a place on the Ritten that many people use and enjoy.
