The view stretches far beyond the Holzner. Set on a natural terrace on the southern slope of the Renon plateau, the hotel looks out across South Tyrol’s mountains: the jagged Dolomites to the south-east, Bolzano and the vineyards of the Oltradige to the south, and the Ortler range in the distance to the south-west.You can take it all in from the park, the terrace and the pool. The south-facing rooms open onto the mountains, too. Morning light brings out their first outlines; by evening, the landscape has changed its colours once more. There is always a reason to pause and look a little longer.

At the Holzner, a family holiday has room to unfold: a children’s programme, a large park with an adventure playground, pools and lawns to play on, spaces for young guests indoors, and thoughtful touches that make travelling with little ones easier.The pleasure of being together also comes from having the freedom to do different things. The Holzner is in Soprabolzano, a long-loved mountain retreat 1,200 metres above sea level on the sunny Renon plateau. Open landscapes, walking trails and places to explore invite you outdoors. The Renon cable car station is right beside the hotel: a cabin departs every 4–12 minutes, and the journey to Bolzano takes just 12 minutes. Its arcades, museums, markets and Mediterranean atmosphere are suddenly close at hand.A day in the mountains can become a day in the city whenever you wish. An architectural gem
to live in
At the Holzner, original Art Nouveau pieces are not kept behind glass: you sit on them and sleep among them. Built in 1908 in the Alpine Art Nouveau style, the hotel has been carefully restored and renewed over the years. The dining room chairs, much of the furniture in the rooms of the original building, the silverware and more than 250 lamps and light fittings date back to its early days and remain part of life here.The Holzner has continued to grow. During the extensions carried out between 2013 and 2018, Alpine Art Nouveau met the clean lines of contemporary architecture. The architects bergmeisterwolf created spaces that give the historic building room to breathe while speaking in a language of their own. Today, original furniture and new rooms, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design all belong to the same house. Pools, peace and

The Holzner’s outdoor pool seems to reach beyond its edge and into the mountains. Against the Dolomites, its clear water calls to mind an Alpine lake. The 12-metre indoor pool and 16-metre outdoor pool invite you to swim with the scenery always in view.In the Family Spa, pools, family saunas, a lawn and a relaxation room offer space for play and rest. The kitchen is, in many ways, the heart of the Parkhotel, and it has been beating steadily for decades. Dining at the Holzner has long earned excellent reviews in international guides. Stephan Zippl’s cooking at Restaurant 1908 received four Gault Millau toques in 2026, while the 2026 Michelin Guide recognises the restaurant with a Green Star.

We value the people who grow and make food on the Renon and across South Tyrol, and the possibilities their products bring to our kitchen. Guests encounter the results both in our gourmet half board and at Restaurant 1908: dishes with a character of their own and a clear sense of where they come from.

Park is more than a word in our name: around the Holzner lie some 10,000 square metres of gardens and parkland. Old trees offer shade, while lawns, flowers, herbs and quiet corners with mountain views give everyone a place to settle in.For guests arriving from the pace of city life, the park offers something especially precious: space. Space for children to set off on adventures and run a little further. For a book beneath a tree, an afternoon outdoors or a conversation with nowhere else to be. To us, a restful holiday means feeling at ease, however high the standards around you may be. Sometimes that begins by leaving the tie in the wardrobe. The Holzner has been in our family’s hands since 1908. Yet a hotel is brought to life by more than one family: it depends on the people who work here every day.Some members of our team have been with us for decades; others bring new experiences, languages and ideas. Together, we welcome guests, look after the small and large wishes that make up a holiday, and give the Holzner its character. We want to offer our colleagues a place to grow, too, through training opportunities, and the way we work together. A place for
every season
When is the best time to visit the Holzner? We rarely have just one answer. In spring, the first sunny walks beckon, perhaps followed by an afternoon in Bolzano, where the air is already warmer. Summer brings the pleasures of a mountain retreat: days spent outdoors, shade beneath the old trees in the park and fresh air at 1,200 metres when the valley below has grown hot.Then come the clear days of autumn. The woods change colour, walks turn into opportunities to enjoy the food and places around us, and the warmth of the hotel feels all the more welcoming after an afternoon outside. Winter has its own appeal: quiet paths on the Renon, a visit to Bolzano in the run-up to Christmas and, when conditions allow, a day on the gentle slopes or winter walking trails of the Corno del Renon.

At the Holzner, South Tyrolean wines are meant to be discovered and enjoyed. For years, we have been developing a wine list that reflects the variety of this region, accompanied by thoughtful advice and tastings to share in our vinotheque.Well-known names sit alongside smaller producers devoted to their craft. From the steep vineyards of the Valle Isarco to the slopes around Bolzano and the South Tyrolean Wine Road, there is much to explore. At the Holzner, your RittenCard is included for the duration of your stay. It gives you access to South Tyrol’s local public transport, including the Renon cable car and historic Renon railway. You can leave your car at the hotel and set out to explore Bolzano, the Renon and many other places across South Tyrol.The card opens up experiences on the plateau, too, depending on the season: guided walks, cultural activities and swimming pools, or a Rittner Buam ice hockey match. The Holzner has been in our family’s hands for four generations. We love this house and the natural and cultural landscape of South Tyrol to which it belongs. We want to care for both, and that asks us to keep looking ahead.It comes through in the decisions we make each day: how we use water and energy, where the food in our kitchencomes from, and how we work with people at the Holzner and on the Renon.
