We are taking a break: The Holzner will re-open on March 23rd, 2024!

The 11 best reasons

for a stay at The Holzner

A CITY HOTEL

IN THE COUNTRYSIDE

The Holzner is located at an altitude of 1200 meters in the idyllic summer retreat of Oberbozen, a part of the sunny plateau of Ritten. Its unspoiled nature, hundreds of kilometers of hiking trails and countless possibilities for excursions, offer recreation and adventure for lovers of nature. On top of that, the Ritten Cable Car station is situated only 30 meters from the hotel. The cable car connects Oberbozen with the South Tyrolean capital, Bozen, and leaves the station at 4-minute intervals. And this is why you can spend your holidays far from the city in the tranquility of nature and yet close to the center of the action.

Original Art Nouveau

for everyone

At the Holzner, you won't find any original Art-Nouveau furnishings preserved behind protective glass. Because here, you will sit and sleep on antique collectibles. In 1908, the Holzner was built with the distinctive style of the so-called Alpine Art Nouveau. The considerate and thoughtful renovations throughout the years focused on preserving the original style of the house. Today, the extent of preserved Art-Nouveau originals is unique in the entire Alpine Area. The chairs in the dining room, a bigger part of the room furnishings, the silver tableware, and over 250 lamps and luminaires date to the early 20th century and are still in use today, just like they were over hundred years ago.

A HOUSE FOR ALL

GENERATIONS

In addition to the daily, high-value childcare and animation program for kids, the Holzner offers everything you can dream of for a felicitous family vacation: A vast park with playgrounds for little adventurers, indoor and outdoor pools, playrooms, a kids‘ dining room, and all necessary room amenities for children. However, at the Holzner we want to offer unforgettable holidays for all the members and generations of a family, and therefore offer: secluded retreats; high-quality delights from our kitchen and wine cellar; tennis courts and mountain bike rental. For good reasons, we consider ourselves a family-hotel, a culture-hotel and a house of indulgence for all generations.

RELAXED CHARM

AND QUALITY

We believe that you can only truly relax when you allow yourself to let go once in a while: So leave your tie in the closet and relax with us. Our hotel was built in 1908, and since then it has been in the hands of the Holzner family. Since the Holzner‘s inaugural season, we have embraced its tradition and worked tirelessly to attain the highest quality possible. In our attempt to offer you the most wonderful holidays, we did not lapse into rigidity and formality. The opposite is the case: At the Holzner, highest quality and highest comfort go hand in hand.

SPACE FOR

YOUR DREAMS

The “Park” is not merely part of our name, it pretty much says it all: About 10.000 sqm of gardens, park, flower and herb beds surround the Parkhotel Holzner. There is room for children seeking adventures (in a secure area: we obtain the independent German Technical Supervisory Association’s test certificate for child security), as well as guests seeking peace and quiet. With the construction of the underground car park and the new traffic concept at the Holzner, our entire park has become a car-free area.

A HOUSE FOR BODY

AND SOUL

The kitchen is the heart of the Parkhotel, and it has been beating strongly and steadily for decades: Thus, the culinary delights at Holzner have been earning excellent ratings in international guides for years. Chef Stephan Zippl brings the culinary arts in the à la carte restaurant 1908 to four toques and 17 points in the Gault Millau 2021. Most recently, Stephan Zippl and the Restaurant 1908 was awarded with a Michelin star and the green star for particularly sustainable kitchen concepts in the Guide Michelin 2022.
Since 2022, the best seasonal products from small producers in the immediate vicinity have been the focus of the gourmet half-board at Holzner as part of the New Traditional Cuisine. Shorter delivery routes, an increase in the organic ingredients, resource conservation, and the promotion of biodiversity and animal welfare enable us to achieve our climate goal of reducing the carbon footprint of our catering from 360 to 180 tons of CO2.

Holiday in an

architectural masterpiece

At the Holzner, Alpine Art Nouveau meets the clear lines of contemporary architecture. As it is the tradition at the Holzner, the extensions implemented from 2013 to 2018 are a thoughtful continuation of the existing building. "The historical building is at the centre of the interventions, with the new structure taking a back seat in favour of the existing house. Old and new merge into a symbiosis and thus grow into a unity," the Bergmeister-Wolf architectural duo explains the underlying approach. Selected materials and clear design draw a continuous line through all the interiors and combine old and new to form a harmonious union. The new elements quietly integrate into the existing ensemble, extend the Art Nouveau building and open a dialogue with the surrounding, carefully tamed landscape.

After the completion of the gradual extensions, our endeavour to create a timeless architecture, a link between past and present, has been awarded the prestigious international BigSEE Architecture Award 2021.
